Mr. and Mrs. Sundaram: Aviation Pioneers of Independent India

Imagine a time before GPS when maps could blow away!

Captain V. and Usha Sundaram were a husband-and-wife team who were brave pilots in India.

They flew important people like leaders, across the country and even helped people during a difficult time.

Usha was one of the first Indian women pilots.

They flew from the UK to India in a long, record-breaking journey.

They also helped people during a big change in their country, when people had to move.

After their flying days, they helped animals by starting a group called Blue Cross India.
