Andhra Pradesh Approves DA Hikes, Staggers Arrears Through 2028
Andhra Pradesh has approved two increases in the extra allowance paid to government employees.
Together, the increases add 4.55% to the allowance linked to basic pay.
The first increase is counted from July 2024.
The second increase is counted from January 2025.
Employees will receive the higher allowance with a salary payment described in the report as occurring in October.
However, the older unpaid amounts, called arrears, will not be paid all at once.
Some arrears will be paid in installments during 2027, and the rest during 2028.
Employees under different pension systems will receive the arrears through different accounts or cash payments.
The state also plans to appoint a commission to consider future pay revisions.
Andhra Pradesh approved two long-pending dearness allowance revisions for state employees, local-body personnel and university staff.
The combined DA increase is 4.55%, raising DA from 37.31% to 41.86% of basic pay.
The first 2.73% installment is retroactive from July 2024, while the second 1.82% installment is retroactive from January 2025.
The report says the revised DA will be implemented from September 2026 and paid with salary released in October.
Arrears will be paid in installments during 2027 and 2028, with OPS arrears credited to GPF and CPS benefits routed through PRAN accounts and cash payments.
