J&K Reviews Plan to Upgrade 714 High Schools

Jammu and Kashmir is considering upgrading 714 high schools so they can teach students through class 12.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reviewed the plan with education officials.

The schools would become K-12 composite schools.

This means students could continue their education in the same school after class 10.

The plan is meant to help more students attend classes 11 and 12.

It especially focuses on children in remote and underserved areas.

The upgrades may need more staff, buildings, laboratories and other facilities.

The work would happen in phases and may receive support from the Union government.
