Amit Shah: 42 Fugitives Extradited, More To Come After Judicial Process
India's Home Minister, Amit Shah, announced that 42 people who fled India after committing financial crimes have been brought back in the last two years.
He explained that bringing these fugitives back is a complicated legal process that involves the courts in other countries.
However, he assured that India has special systems in place, like the 'India Net' program, to help track these individuals, get them arrested through Interpol, and complete the extradition.
Famous examples of fugitives facing extradition are Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya, who are involved in large financial scams.
The minister also mentioned that a clear plan, called an SOP, has been created to guide all the agencies involved in these operations.
He contrasted the current government's approach with the previous one, stating that fugitives are now being actively pursued and brought back to face justice in India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that 42 fugitives have been extradited to India in the last two years.
He assured that more fugitives will be brought back following the completion of judicial processes in other countries.
Notable fugitives Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya are currently undergoing extradition proceedings in the UK.
India utilizes 'India Net' under the CBI, Interpol, and Blue Corner notices to track and extradite fugitives.
