Tata Sons Leadership Debate: Noel Tata vs. Trustees
Noel Tata, who leads the Tata Trusts (the main owners of Tata Sons), proposed changing how the top leaders at Tata Sons work.
He wanted different people to be the CEO and chairman.
Currently, Natarajan Chandrasekaran is the chairman, and Noel Tata reportedly does not want him to continue after his current term ends in 2027.
But, many of the other people in charge don't agree and want Chandrasekaran to stay.
Tata Trusts has a big say in what happens because it owns most of Tata Sons, which is why it is crucial who leads the company.
Noel Tata proposed a new leadership structure splitting the chairman role.
The proposal aimed to separate chairman, CEO, and managing director positions.
Trustees favor Natarajan Chandrasekaran continuing as chairman beyond his current term.
Chandrasekaran's current term is scheduled to end in 2027.
