Maharashtra Defends Davos MoUs as FDI-Driven
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has defended the agreements signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, stating that 83% of the Rs 30 lakh crores in MoUs involve significant foreign direct investment (FDI).
The opposition, including Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT), has criticized these agreements as a marketing strategy, questioning the need to sign deals with Mumbai-based companies internationally.
Fadnavis emphasized that Davos provides global visibility and is an efficient venue for finalizing large-scale international contracts.
He clarified that the investments span various sectors, including services, agriculture, green energy, manufacturing, and financial services, and involve partnerships with foreign entities and advanced technology.
The CM also mentioned that major countries like the UK, America, Japan, and others are investing in Maharashtra, reflecting its economic stability and global credibility.
He dismissed social media criticism as a pre-planned toolkit aimed at misleading the public and contrasted the current administration's success with previous years' lower MoU values.
