Best Soundbars for Immersive Audio in Small Rooms
The review tested several soundbars in a small living room.
A soundbar is a speaker that can make TV sound clearer and fuller.
The tester found that louder sound is not always better in a small space.
Too much bass can feel overwhelming, while unclear voices can make shows hard to follow.
The Sony HT-S100F is a simple and compact upgrade from built-in TV speakers.
The Sonos Ray focuses on clear voices and music features.
Other models use subwoofers or rear speakers to create deeper bass and more surround sound.
The Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Mini uses special processing to make sound seem wider and taller.
The best choice depends on whether someone values simplicity, dialogue, bass or cinematic surround effects.
The review found that dialogue clarity, controlled bass and room coverage matter more than maximum power in a small room.
Sony HT-S100F is a compact, affordable 2.0-channel choice for clearer dialogue without a subwoofer.
Sonos Ray offers strong dialogue, stereo sound and smart features but lacks HDMI and Dolby Atmos.
JBL Cinema SB560 and Samsung HW-B45EF/XL add wireless subwoofers for deeper bass, while Sony HT-S20R provides genuine 5.1 surround sound.
Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar Mini delivers premium virtual Dolby Atmos audio, room calibration and extensive streaming options from a compact unit.
