Beed Farmers Protest Alleged Pressure Over Renewable Energy Land
Farmers in Beed held a protest about wind and solar energy projects being built near their land.
They say project materials were moved across farmland without permission or fair payment.
They also say some farmers faced pressure when they spoke up.
The protest came after an incident in Saundana where some farmers reportedly consumed a poisonous substance during a dispute about a wind project.
The Farmers’ Rights Front asked officials to investigate what happened.
It also wants work on farmland to stop until farmers agree and receive proper compensation.
The group says all legal steps should be followed openly.
It sent its demands to senior Maharashtra government leaders.
Farmers’ Rights Front members protested outside the Beed Collectorate on Monday over access to farmland for wind and solar projects.
Protesters alleged that project materials crossed agricultural land without farmers’ consent, adequate compensation or required legal procedures.
They accused officials and companies of pressuring or intimidating farmers who questioned compensation or asserted their rights.
The protest followed an alleged incident in Saundana village last week in which some farmers consumed a poisonous substance amid tensions over a wind project.
The group called for an impartial inquiry, an end to activities without farmers’ consent, and a memorandum was submitted to Maharashtra’s chief minister and deputy chief ministers.
