Maharashtra Allots 3.6-Acre Ulwe Land to TTD for Temple
The Maharashtra government has given a big piece of land in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai, to a temple organization called TTD.
They will build a new temple there.
The land is very cheap, just ₹1 per square metre, and the government is not charging any extra fees.
The temple will look like the famous Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh.
The government made sure that building the temple won't hurt the environment.
This is not the first time TTD has gotten land cheaply in Maharashtra.
They already have land in Bandra East for another temple.
Maharashtra Cabinet approved the allotment of 3.6-acre land in Ulwe to TTD for temple construction.
The land was allotted at a token rate of ₹1 per square metre with all premiums and infrastructure charges waived.
The decision was formalized in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on January 17, 2024.
The temple will be a replica of the Tirupati–Tiruchanur shrines and will cater to devotees in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Environmental concerns were addressed, ensuring compliance with coastal regulations and avoiding mangrove buffer zones.
