India's AI Growth and Workforce Challenges
India is expecting a big boost in its economy from Artificial Intelligence (AI), which could add $1.7 trillion by 2035.
The government is investing a lot in AI through programs like the IndiaAI Mission, which will help build better technology, support new businesses, and train people in AI skills.
This will help different industries like healthcare, farming, and banking work better and create new jobs.
At the same time, India is facing a big challenge with its workforce.
Many workers have only basic education, and there is a shortage of skilled people in important fields like IT and engineering.
The government is trying to fix this by offering training programs and encouraging more people, especially women, to join the workforce.
They also want to move workers from farming to other jobs that pay better.
By preparing now, India hopes to have a strong and skilled workforce ready for the future.
AI could add $1.7 trillion to India's economy by 2035, with significant investments through the IndiaAI Mission.
India is expanding its AI infrastructure, including increasing GPU capacity to 38,000 for startups and researchers.
The government is focusing on reskilling initiatives, with over 18.5 lakh candidates enrolled in AI and emerging technology courses.
India faces a workforce skills gap, with 73% of workers having only basic education and a 63% talent shortage in IT and engineering.
Efforts are being made to boost female workforce participation, currently at 31%, through skill training and policies.
