APCRDA Office in Amaravati Earns India’s First Net-Zero Rating
The APCRDA office in Amaravati has become India’s first government building to get a special award for being super energy-efficient.
This building uses special lights, air conditioning, and solar panels to make its own energy.
It even gets extra energy from renewable sources to make sure it doesn’t use any energy from non-renewable sources.
The building uses about 15% less energy than what is normally used in similar buildings.
The award was given at a big event in Mumbai.
The people in charge of the building are very happy and plan to make more buildings like this in the future.
APCRDA's project office in Amaravati is India’s first government building to receive the IGBC Net Zero Energy Rating at the design stage.
The building achieves an Energy Performance Index of 0.85, consuming approximately 17,08,980 kWh annually, 15% better than the ECBC 2017 baseline.
The facility is equipped with a 540 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic installation, generating around 7,88,724 kWh per year, covering 45% of its annual energy needs.
The remaining 55% of energy is sourced through Green Tariff renewable energy, achieving 100% renewable energy compliance.
APCRDA plans to extend green building standards across all upcoming developments in the region.
