Digital UAN Generation and Activation Now Possible via Umang App
The government is making it easier to manage your retirement savings (Provident Fund) with a new app called Umang.
You can now get a special number (UAN) to access your savings directly through your phone.
You'll need your Aadhaar card and a linked phone number.
The app uses facial recognition to confirm your identity.
This new system lets you create a UAN, activate an existing one, or simply confirm your identity.
The app provides a way to get your e-UAN to give your employer.
EPFO is now using the Umang app for digital UAN generation and activation.
Employees can generate their own UANs using Umang and facial authentication.
The process includes UAN generation/activation for new users, activation for existing users, and facial authentication.
Users need Aadhaar and a linked mobile number and install the Aadhaar RD app.
The e-UAN can be printed from the Umang app and given to employers.
