Western Railway Cancels 100+ Trains for Kandivali Project
The Western Railway in Mumbai had to cancel over 100 local trains on January 20, 2026, because they were doing important work at the Kandivali car shed.
This work is part of a big project to make the trains run better by separating the tracks for local and long-distance trains.
The cancellations caused big problems for people traveling between the northern suburbs and South Mumbai.
Some trains are still running but are delayed.
The railway asked people to check for updates and maybe use the Metro or buses instead.
The work is expected to finish by Wednesday, January 21, 2026, and then things should get back to normal.
Western Railway cancelled 102 suburban services on January 20, 2026, due to technical work at Kandivali car shed.
The disruption is part of the Kandivali–Borivali 6th Line project, aimed at improving train services.
Passengers traveling between northern suburbs and South Mumbai are heavily impacted, with several fast locals cancelled.
Trains running through the Kandivali–Malad stretch are delayed by 15 to 20 minutes due to speed restrictions.
The project is expected to be completed by January 21, 2026, after which services are expected to gradually return to normal.
