Immortal Review: GV Prakash, Kayadu Lohar Power Uneven Fantasy
Immortal is a Tamil movie about a young man named Magi.
He needs a cheap room and finds one in a fancy apartment.
The room belongs to a mysterious woman named Sindhu, who becomes his roommate.
At first, Magi is attracted to her and thinks his luck has changed.
Later, he discovers that Sindhu has a dangerous secret.
The movie mixes romance, horror, mythology and survival.
The actors do a good job showing fear, charm and danger.
However, the story does not clearly explain what kind of creature Sindhu is or why she wants Magi.
The review says the movie has interesting ideas but works only in parts.
Mariyappan Chinna’s Immortal blends fantasy, horror, romance and survival-thriller elements around a mysterious creature.
The story follows Magi, a printing-press worker who becomes trapped in an apartment with the enigmatic Sindhu.
The film draws on mythology but leaves the creature’s identity, abilities and interest in Magi insufficiently explained.
GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar are praised for conveying vulnerability, charm and menace in their performances.
The background score, visual effects and apartment-based production design support the thriller, though the screenplay meanders.

What Works
What Falls Short
Premise and genre experiment
What Works
The film receives credit for exploring monster and vampire territory in Tamil cinema and for using mythology to establish its creature.
What Falls Short
The combination of monster and vampire ideas is confusing, and the creature’s distinctive characteristics and history remain unclear.
Lead performances
What Works
GV Prakash Kumar effectively conveys Magi’s fear and vulnerability, while Kayadu Lohar balances charm, beauty and menace.
What Falls Short
The review argues that Sindhu’s early presentation focuses too heavily on sensuality, reducing an otherwise intriguing character.
Screenplay and emotional impact
What Works
The film creates some sparks through its mystery, romance and survival-thriller shift, supported by Sam CS’s tense background score.
What Falls Short
The screenplay meanders, treats the romance superficially and does not make Magi’s danger or survival feel emotionally compelling.
