India's Multidimensional Poverty Falls from 29% to 11%
Imagine that many people in India didn't have enough money to buy what they needed to live well.
Over the past nine years, things have gotten better!
The number of people facing this kind of poverty has dropped significantly.
This means that more people have access to things like healthcare, education, and a better way of living.
The government has been working hard to help, providing things like clean water and houses to make life better for many families.
India's multidimensional poverty declined from 29.17% in 2013-14 to 11.28% in 2022-23.
Approximately 24.82 crore people escaped poverty during this period, according to NITI Aayog.
Between 2015-16 and 2019-21, poverty decreased from 24.85% to 14.96%, with 13.5 crore people escaping poverty.
The National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) measures poverty across health, education, and living standards.
Government initiatives include providing tap water to 16 crore homes and building 5 crore houses for poor families.
