Odisha floods ease as major rivers fall below danger marks

Flooding in parts of Odisha became less severe on Friday.

Most major rivers were below the levels considered dangerous.

The Subarnarekha River, which caused serious flooding in Baleshwar, was going down.

About 2.1 lakh people in that district were affected by the river.

Around 100 villages there were still surrounded by floodwater.

In total, more than 13 lakh people across six districts were affected.

About five lakh people were moved to safer places.

Officials continued rescue and relief work, while the rising Baitarani River remained a concern in some areas.
