Indian Rupee Weakens Amid Forex Reserves and Rate Cuts
The Indian Rupee is not doing well compared to other Asian currencies.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has a large amount of money to pay back in dollars, about $73 billion.
Because of this, experts think the rupee might get weaker, perhaps reaching ₹86.50 per dollar by the end of the year.
India's foreign money reserves are around $693 billion.
The RBI is also expected to lower interest rates, which could affect the rupee's value.
The RBI wants to keep enough dollars to manage the rupee's value.
Indian Rupee is emerging Asia’s worst performer this quarter.
RBI has dollar repayments of about $73 billion as of April.
The rupee may fall to ₹86.50 per dollar by end-December, according to IDFC First Bank Ltd.
India's foreign-exchange reserves stood at about $693 billion as of May 23.
RBI is expected to cut interest rates by a quarter point on June 6.
