Eight Delhi Police Officers Promoted to DIG Rank
Eight police officers in Delhi have been given a big promotion.
They will now be called Deputy Inspector General of Police, which is a higher rank.
These officers were already in important jobs, like being in charge of different police areas in Delhi.
The government decided to promote them after a special meeting on December 8, 2025.
The promotions will start from January 1, 2026, or when they officially start their new jobs, whichever comes later.
This is good news for these officers because they will have more responsibility and a higher rank in the police force.
Eight Delhi Police officers promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).
Promoted officers include seven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and one Deputy Director of Delhi Police Academy.
Promotions were made following recommendations from a screening committee meeting held on December 8, 2025.
Effective date of promotion is January 1, 2026, or the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.
The order for promotion was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday.
