Indian Equities Rally on Bargain Hunting, Nifty Surges
Indian stocks went up on Thursday, with the big market indexes called the Sensex and Nifty closing higher.
Traders bought shares after a dip, which is called bargain hunting, and some short sellers covered their positions.
The IT and car parts companies helped the biggest gains.
A market expert said it might be a good idea to buy when prices drop.
Oil prices were around $90 a barrel and gold was about $4,070 an ounce.
Sensex rose 273.55 points to 77,928.15 and Nifty up 66.95 points to 24,317.15.
The rally was driven by bargain hunting and short-covering, led by IT and auto sectors.
Nifty Auto was the top gainer (+1.63%), while Nifty Realty and Nifty Chemicals were the top drags.
Analysts recommend a "buy on dips" strategy, citing the Nifty's reclaim of the 24,200‑24,250 zone.
Commodity prices: Brent crude near $91, WTI above $84, spot gold around $4,070 per ounce.
