Odisha Prepares for Budget and Rajya Sabha Elections
The Odisha government is getting ready for an important meeting where they will talk about money and plans for the next year.
This meeting will start on February 17 and last until April 8.
The leader of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, will talk about the budget on February 20.
At the same time, there are discussions about who will fill four open seats in the Rajya Sabha, which is like a big meeting of important people who make laws.
The BJP, which is in charge now, is likely to win two seats, and the BJD can probably win one.
But no party has enough votes to win the fourth seat alone, so they might need to work together.
The Congress party wants to talk to the BJD about this.
Also, the leader of Odisha met with a important person from the World Bank to talk about making Odisha better by creating jobs and improving schools and roads.
Everyone is waiting to see what will happen with the budget and the Rajya Sabha seats.
Odisha's budget session begins on February 17, 2026, with the budget presentation on February 20, 2026.
Four Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha will be up for election, with BJP likely to win two and BJD one.
The fourth seat is contested as no party has enough votes to win it alone, with Congress needing BJD support.
Congress has 15 MLAs (including CPI(M) support) and needs 30 first preference votes to secure a seat.
BJP and BJD leaders express uncertainty and strategic considerations regarding the fourth seat.
