Bihar Sees Lowest Violent Crime in 25 Years
In Bihar, serious crimes like murder and dacoity have dropped to their lowest levels in 25 years.
Murders went down from 3,619 in 2001 to 2,556 in 2025.
Dacoity cases also fell sharply, from over 1,200 annually in the early 2000s to just 174 in 2025.
Riots have decreased significantly, with 2,502 cases in 2025 compared to a peak of 13,566 in 2014.
However, rape cases have increased, reaching 2,025 in 2025.
The overall crime rate has risen due to more thefts, burglaries, and cybercrimes.
Police have been active, recovering illegal weapons and drugs, and cracking down on Naxal groups.
Experts say the increase in reported crimes doesn't necessarily mean worse law and order but could be due to better reporting and awareness.
