Indian Oil Approves ₹2,448.70 Crore Southern Gas Pipeline
Indian Oil Corporation plans to build a natural-gas pipeline in southern India.
The pipeline will connect Kochi with Thoothukudi through the Kanyakumari region.
It will be about 425 kilometres long.
The company has approved ₹2,448.70 crore for the project.
The pipeline could carry 6.84 million standard cubic metres of gas each day.
Some of that capacity will be available for other eligible companies to use.
The pipeline is expected to help supply gas to industries and city-gas networks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
It may also help Petronet LNG use more of its Kochi terminal, but construction still needs required approvals.
