HYDRAA protects two Hyderabad-area water bodies from encroachment
HYDRAA is an agency that works to protect property and respond to hazards in Hyderabad.
It took steps to protect two water bodies from being occupied or built on.
At Istaribai Kunta, officials removed a wall and sheds that they said were inside protected lake areas.
They also stopped an attempt to extend a housing layout into the water body and put up fencing.
At Kudikunta, officials found that a nearby piece of empty land belonged to the lake.
Residents had asked for the land to be protected.
HYDRAA fenced it to help prevent people from occupying it.
HYDRAA removed a compound wall that officials said extended into Istaribai Kunta in Kuntloor.
The agency stopped attempts to extend a layout into the tank and removed worker sheds found within its buffer zone.
Istaribai Kunta covers about 2.5 acres and is identified by the Irrigation Department and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
At Kudikunta in Kondapur, officials determined that a 300-square-yard parcel was part of the lake’s land.
HYDRAA fenced the Kudikunta parcel after residents requested protection from alleged occupation and anti-social activity.
