Mason Detained, Tortured by Police, Says Wife
A man named Jiaul Haque was taken to the police station and kept there for two days.
His wife says he was beaten up badly and wasn't told why he was being held.
After some people protested, the police let him go.
He was hurt so badly that he couldn't hear well anymore and had many bruises on his body.
His wife is very upset and has asked the court to help them.
The police say they will look into the matter once they get the official complaint.
Jiaul Haque, a mason, was detained at Kaliachak police station on December 2 without specific charges.
He was allegedly beaten severely during his two-day detention, causing hearing impairment and multiple bruises.
His wife, Sabera Bibi, filed a petition in court accusing three police officers and three civic volunteers.
The incident was reported to the district police headquarters, but no action was taken.
Haque's counsel argues that the detention and assault violate his constitutional rights.
