ED Files Fresh Corruption Complaint Against Arrested DCP
The Enforcement Directorate has filed a new corruption complaint against police officer Santanu Sinha Biswas.
He was already arrested in May in a land fraud case.
The agency says he used his official position to help some people accused of crimes.
It also says he and his family received financial or property benefits.
Investigators identified alleged benefits worth at least ₹2.89 crore.
The ED says two flats costing ₹82 lakh were bought in someone else’s name.
It also alleges that his son’s medical college fees were paid in a way that did not match his income.
The agency further says over ₹61.36 lakh was used to renovate his home from alleged proceeds of crime.
These are allegations made by the ED, not a court finding of guilt.
The Enforcement Directorate filed a fresh corruption complaint against arrested DCP Santanu Sinha Biswas at Gariahat police station.
The agency alleged that Sinha Biswas misused his official position to provide financial and commercial benefits to himself, family members and alleged criminals.
The ED said its investigation identified at least ₹2.89 crore in monetary and property benefits allegedly derived by Sinha Biswas.
The agency alleged he purchased two flats for ₹82 lakh in another person’s name and paid his son’s medical college fees.
The ED also alleged that more than ₹61.36 lakh was spent renovating his Murshidabad residence using proceeds of crime; he was arrested in May in a land fraud case.
