Sensex, Nifty Recover to Close Higher Amid Crude Oil Surge

Sensex, Nifty Recover to Close Higher Amid Crude Oil Surge

On Monday, people who buy and sell shares in India watched the stock market go up and down.

The stock market is a place where people buy small pieces of companies, called shares.

India has two important markets, the Sensex and the Nifty, and both slipped a little when trading started in the morning.

The dip happened because the price of oil went up.

Oil became more expensive because of worries between countries — Iran said it may keep a very important water route, the Strait of Hormuz, closed, and ships in the Gulf were attacked over the weekend.

When oil costs more, companies spend more money making and moving their products, so their shares can lose value.

But by the end of the day, the markets recovered and closed a little bit higher.

Big foreign investors kept buying Indian shares, and many companies reported better earnings than expected.

Markets in Japan and South Korea also went up, and American markets ended higher on Friday.

Investors are now waiting to see new inflation numbers from India and the United States.
