Ex-Harvard Worker Sentenced for Selling Human Organs
A man named Cedric Lodge used to work at Harvard Medical School.
He took body parts from people who donated them for science and sold them illegally.
He and his wife took these parts to their home and other places, then sold them to people in different states.
The body parts included organs, brains, skin, and even whole heads.
Cedric was sentenced to eight years in prison, and his wife got one year.
The FBI and the Justice Department worked together to catch them and make sure they were punished.
Some of the people who bought the body parts are also in trouble with the law.
Cedric Lodge, a former morgue manager at Harvard Medical School, was sentenced to eight years in prison for trafficking stolen human remains.
Lodge and his wife, Denise, sold body parts including organs, brains, skin, hands, faces, and dissected heads from 2018 to at least March 2020.
The remains were taken without the knowledge or permission of the donor or their families and were sold for profit.
Denise Lodge was sentenced to one year in prison for her involvement in the crime.
Several buyers of the stolen remains have also been sentenced to jail time or are awaiting sentencing.
