India Launches GSAT-7R Satellite to Boost Naval Power Amid China's Space Expansion
Imagine India has a new, super-smart toy called GSAT-7R that goes into space!
It's like a special eye in the sky for the Indian Navy's ships and planes.
This toy helps them talk to each other safely and quickly, even when they are far away in the big ocean.
It helps them see what's happening around India's coasts.
This is important because another country, China, has many space toys too and is building more.
India wants to make sure its navy can do its job well and protect the country's waters.
GSAT-7R is like an upgrade to India's old toys, making them faster and more secure.
It helps India keep watch and be ready for anything that might happen.
India launched GSAT-7R, its heaviest dedicated defense satellite, to enhance naval communication and surveillance.
The satellite aims to bolster the Indian Navy's secure, real-time communication and maritime domain awareness in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
GSAT-7R weighs approximately 4,400 kg and is equipped with indigenous, state-of-the-art components.
The launch occurs amid China's rapid expansion of its military satellite fleet and development of advanced anti-space capabilities.
GSAT-7R will support network-centric warfare, enhance interoperability with new naval assets, and enable blue-water operations.
