India's corporate sales rise 24% in Q1 FY27

During the first three months of the new financial year, many big companies in India sold a lot more stuff than they did the year before.

Their combined sales went up by 24 percent.

That means people and businesses were still buying plenty of goods, even though the world had some problems.

Some kinds of companies did especially well.

Diamond and jewellery sellers grew the fastest, followed by trading companies and carmakers.

Earning money got a little harder, though, because the raw materials companies need became more expensive.

Companies could not always charge customers higher prices to cover those extra costs.

So their profit margins became a bit thinner than last year.

Even so, companies still made more profit overall than before, and a research group called SBI Research thinks India's economy grew by about 8 percent during that time.
