FSSAI Orders Everest Cumin Recall After Unsafe Pesticide Tests
India’s food regulator, FSSAI, ordered Everest Food Products to recall an affected batch of packaged cumin powder.
The batch number is E080668761.
A sample collected at a resort in Goa was tested and found to contain two pesticide residues above the permitted limits.
A second laboratory confirmed that the sample was unsafe.
Everest must keep records of the recall, send reports and take steps to prevent the problem from happening again.
FSSAI also suspended Creative Bakers and Confectioners’ licence because of severe hygiene deficiencies.
Separately, a sample of Nestlé low-fat dairy whitener from a hotel in Delhi was called substandard and unsafe.
FSSAI ordered Everest Food Products to immediately recall implicated pre-packed cumin powder batch E080668761.
A sample collected at Riverside Resorts & Holiday Homes in Goa contained azoxystrobin and thiamethoxam above prescribed limits.
A referral laboratory confirmed the sample was unsafe after Everest was given an opportunity to challenge the initial finding.
Everest must keep recall records, submit required reports, take corrective measures and report when the recall is complete.
