IPFT Observes Tipraland Demand Day, Receives Support
The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) held a day to push for their separate state, Tipraland.
They got support from the National Federation of New States, whose leader said IPFT is essential for Tipraland's success.
The demand for Tipraland is based on the Indian Constitution.
The IPFT used to be a big party but has lost some of its supporters to another party called Tipra Motha, which wants a larger area called Greater Tipraland.
The IPFT wants to include the areas of Tripura's Autonomous District Council.
The day is observed since the elected body of the TTAADC was officially formed on that day in 1984.
