Parliament Adjourns Amid Rahul Gandhi Walkout Over Anti‑Paper Leak Bill
The Indian Parliament was busy on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
The lower house, called the Lok Sabha, was supposed to talk about a new law that changes how many judges the Supreme Court can have.
But a big protest happened when Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader, said some harsh words about the Home Minister, Amit Shah.
He also accused Shah of ordering police to shoot student protesters.
Because of the protest, the Lok Sabha stopped its meeting at 2 PM.
The new law was still passed by a voice vote, even though many members were upset.
The upper house, the Rajya Sabha, will later discuss another law that makes it harder to cheat on exams.
Lok Sabha adjourned to 2 PM after a walkout by opposition members.
Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill 2026 will be debated in the Lok Sabha.
Rajya Sabha is set to consider the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill 2026.
Rahul Gandhi used the word “idiot” and accused Home Minister Amit Shah of ordering police to shoot student protesters.
The Supreme Court bill was passed by voice vote despite the opposition protest.
