Guy Mintus Brings Musical Traditions Together at Mumbai PianoForte
Guy Mintus is a musician who enjoys many different kinds of music.
These include jazz, classical music, Middle Eastern music and Indian classical music.
He believes these traditions can meet and teach one another.
While living in New York, he worked with musicians from many cultures.
He studied tabla and performed with Indian classical musicians, including on a tour of India.
Mintus also likes improvisation, which means making some musical choices in the moment.
He believes every performance should contain something surprising and personal.
He says live music helps people connect in ways that are difficult to explain with words.
He will share music with younger performers in Mumbai in 2026.
Israeli-born pianist and composer Guy Mintus blends jazz, Western classical, Middle Eastern and Indian classical influences.
Mintus studied tabla with Pt. Samir Chatterjee and performed with Indian classical musicians, including during a tour of India.
He views improvisation, spontaneity and personal interpretation as essential parts of live performance.
Mintus says music can connect people across cultures and communicate feelings that words cannot fully express.
He will perform with young musicians Noah Cerejo and Mantra Upadhyay at Mumbai’s NCPA on September 17, 2026.
