Supreme Court criticizes CBI, Delhi Police over Indiabulls probe
The Supreme Court of India was very upset with the CBI and the Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing because they haven't done much to investigate some serious allegations against the people who run Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited.
The court almost called the heads of these agencies to explain themselves, but they decided not to after someone promised that the agencies would provide an update soon.
The allegations involve moving money around in a sneaky way, breaking company laws, and taking money out of the company illegally.
A group called Citizens Whistleblowers Forum, led by a lawyer named Prashant Bhushan, filed a complaint about this.
They say the company's founder, Sameer Gehlaut, might have run away to London to avoid the investigation.
Supreme Court criticized CBI and Delhi Police EOW for lack of progress in investigating Indiabulls promoters.
Court initially proposed to summon agency heads but dropped the idea after assurance of a status report.
Allegations include round-tripping of funds, violations of the Companies Act, and siphoning of funds.
Petition filed by NGO Citizens Whistleblowers Forum, represented by advocate Prashant Bhushan.
