Rajasthan HC Denies Bail to Bhatts in Rs 30-crore Fraud Case
The Rajasthan High Court has refused to grant bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and two other people.
They are in jail for a case about cheating and misusing money.
The court said that letting them out now would not be good because the police are still investigating.
The person who complained, Ajay Murdia, said that the money given for making films was not used properly and was instead put into the accused's own accounts.
The accused say that all payments were done with agreement and there were no fake bills.
The court will continue to investigate the case.
Rajasthan High Court rejected bail applications of Vikram Bhatt, his wife, and two others in a cheating and criminal breach of trust case.
The Special Public Prosecutor argued that releasing the accused might influence witnesses and hinder the ongoing investigation.
The complainant, Ajay Murdia, alleged that funds amounting to Rs 30 crore, meant for film projects, were misappropriated by the accused.
The accused claimed that all payments were made with mutual agreement and no fake bills were involved.
The court observed that the matter involves misappropriation of funds and not just a civil breach of contract.
