Noel Tata Faces Succession Challenge Amid Tata Sons Turmoil

Noel Tata Faces Succession Challenge Amid Tata Sons Turmoil

Noel Tata is taking on a bigger leadership role in the Tata Group.

He became chairman of Tata Trusts after Ratan Tata died.

At the same time, Tata Sons is facing a difficult change in leadership.

Its annual meeting had to stop because one trust could not appoint a representative.

The former Tata Sons chairman, N. Chandrasekaran, made the company more centralised and invested in new businesses.

Some of those investments are still unfinished and require a lot of money.

Noel Tata and Chandrasekaran had disagreements about how much the trusts should be involved in decisions.

Noel must now help choose new leaders and improve relations between the trusts and Tata Sons.

He also needs to decide which major investments should continue.
