Supreme Court Dismisses Maran's SpiceJet Damages Plea
Imagine a company, SpiceJet, had a problem and had to be taken over by a new boss, Ajay Singh.
The old bosses, Maran and KAL Airways, thought SpiceJet owed them money because of some shares and payments.
They went to court to ask for over a thousand crore rupees.
But the court said no!
The judges looked at the case, and they decided the old bosses weren't right.
The case is old, and the airline and the old bosses have had arguments about money.
Now, a new part of the case about interest, and share refunds will be looked at by the court.
Supreme Court dismissed KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran's appeal for over ₹1,300 crore in damages from SpiceJet.
The appeal, related to a share transfer dispute, was previously rejected by the Arbitral Tribunal and Delhi High Court.
The case stems from 2015 when Ajay Singh bought back SpiceJet from Maran.
Maran and KAL Airways claimed to have paid ₹679 crore to SpiceJet for warrants and preference shares.
