Minister Urges Shivakumar to Reconsider Bengaluru Residential Parking Fees

Minister Urges Shivakumar to Reconsider Bengaluru Residential Parking Fees

Bengaluru is considering charging people who park vehicles on public roads outside their homes.

The yearly fee would depend on the type of vehicle.

Hatchback owners could pay Rs 15,000, sedan owners Rs 20,000 and SUV owners Rs 25,000.

Minister Ramalinga Reddy said these fees could be difficult for many families to afford.

He said people are already paying for loans, education, healthcare and daily needs.

Reddy agreed that illegal and long-term roadside parking should be controlled.

He said older buildings and apartments may not have enough parking space.

He asked the government to consider exemptions and consult residents and officials before deciding.
