Indian Professional Warns Students Against Moving to US Amid Uncertainty
Anushk Sharma told Indian students and workers to think carefully before moving to the United States.
He said changing immigration and job rules could make studying and working there more uncertain.
He was especially worried about students who need internships during or after their studies.
Sharma discussed two programs called CPT and OPT that can help eligible international students work.
He said some universities may no longer offer certain course-credit versions of CPT under new requirements.
He also mentioned proposed fees connected to OPT and H-1B visas.
Sharma recommended countries such as Canada, Germany, and Switzerland for some students.
He said these countries may not offer salaries as high as those in the US.
Some people agreed with him, while others said he had exaggerated the effects of the policy changes.
Anushk Sharma urged Indians to reconsider studying or working in the United States, saying, “America mat aao.”
Sharma said uncertainty over immigration and employment rules has made the US a less attractive destination.
He cautioned business-program applicants and suggested Oxford, Cambridge, Canada, Germany, or Switzerland as alternatives.
He discussed concerns about Curricular Practical Training and Optional Practical Training for international students.
Sharma acknowledged that several proposed measures, including possible $100,000 fees, had not been finalized, prompting mixed reactions online.
