Punjab Govt Faces Tight Deadline for Mohali Boundaries Amid Census Directive
Imagine you're drawing a map for a big class project that needs to be finished by a certain date.
The teacher, who is like the Census boss, has said that all the borders on the map have to be finalized by the end of 2025.
This is because they need to use these exact borders for a big count (the Census) happening in 2027.
The government in Punjab needs to finish drawing the new lines for the city of Mohali before that deadline, or they won't be able to include the new parts in the official count.
A directive from the Registrar General and Census Commissioner mandates finalization of all administrative boundary changes by December 31, 2025.
This deadline is set to freeze boundaries for the upcoming Census operation in 2027.
No alterations to districts, tehsils, sub-divisions, revenue villages, or municipal corporations will be permitted after this date.
The Mohali Municipal Corporation's boundary expansion process has been accelerated due to this directive.
The Punjab government must complete its boundary adjustments within the specified timeframe.
