States Seek Central Support in Pre-Budget Meetings
Chief Ministers from different states met with the Union Finance Minister to ask for help and money for their states.
Haryana wants support for farms, hospitals, and industries.
Telangana needs funds for big projects like new metro lines, airports, and schools.
They also talked about how the central government can help states grow by giving more money and making rules easier.
The Finance Minister said she values their ideas and wants the budget to help all states grow together.
Both states want to make their places better and need the central government's help to do that.
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini and Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka attended a pre-Budget meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to seek central support for their states' development.
Haryana's key demands include budgetary allocations for agriculture, rural development, medical education, industries, and allied sectors, as well as support for modernizing agriculture and addressing agricultural land issues.
Telangana sought additional funds and grants for key projects, including the second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail, IIM in Hyderabad, airports in various districts, and the semiconductor project, and urged the declaration of the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PRLI) Scheme as a national project.
Telangana also raised concerns about the devolution of tax revenues, the impact of GST rate reductions, and the modification of funding for the MGNREGS scheme, appealing for exemptions and additional funds for various infrastructure projects.
The meeting emphasized the importance of states in India's growth story, with the Finance Minister valuing the constructive suggestions of state governments in shaping a Budget that reflects grassroots priorities and ensures macroeconomic stability and inclusive growth.
