JNUTA Accuses JNU VC of Transferring Guest House
The teachers' association at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is upset because they think the university's leader is planning to give away a guest house to another government group.
The guest house is in Central Delhi.
The teachers say this plan hasn't been discussed with the university's main decision-making group.
The university says they are just looking for ways to use their buildings better.
JNU has been having money problems and needs to find new ways to pay for things without raising student fees, which are very low.
The teachers and students are worried that this might be the start of selling or renting out more university property.
JNUTA accuses JNU VC of planning to transfer the Gomti Guest House to ICWA.
Discussions about the transfer began in July 2025 after a meeting between the VC and ICWA's Director General.
JNU has set up a committee to explore optimal use of government resources.
JNUTA questions why the proposal wasn't presented to the university's Executive Council.
JNU faces financial deficits and is seeking new income streams without raising student fees.
