BJP and Congress clash in Jammu
On July 22, BJP and Congress workers had a face-off near the JKPCC headquarters in Jammu.
The BJP protest was led by Sunil Sharma, who accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of abandoning parliamentary debate and attempting to incite unrest among the youth.
The Congress workers, led by Tariq Hameed Karra and Raman Bhalla, staged a counter-protest demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleging BJP hooliganism.
Police formed a security cordon to keep the rival groups apart.
The BJP claims they are marching to convey a message about democracy, while the Congress defends their protest as a democratic right and alleges that the BJP is using force against protesters.
The issue stems from a police crackdown on protesters led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), who were demanding accountability over the NEET paper ‘leak’ and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
