Omar Abdullah Offers Support to Filmmakers Hiring Local J&K Talent

Omar Abdullah opened Jammu and Kashmir’s first international film festival.

He asked filmmakers to use local stories and work with people from the region.

This includes actors, musicians, camera workers, sound engineers, and other film crews.

The government says it can help filmmakers get permissions online.

It also offers financial support based on how long films shoot there and how much they spend locally.

Films using local talent or showing J&K’s heritage may receive extra incentives.

The government plans to build studios, equipment banks, and other film facilities.

The festival will last three days and begins on Tuesday.
