Taiwan Husband Wins Affair Case, Jailed Over Secret Recording

Taiwan Husband Wins Affair Case, Jailed Over Secret Recording

A husband in Taiwan thought his wife might be seeing someone else.

He became suspicious after finding a used toothbrush and seeing an unfamiliar man in parking-camera footage.

About three months later, he used an app to turn on a robot vacuum at their holiday home.

The vacuum had a camera and two-way audio.

Its live feed showed his wife with another man, and the husband recorded it.

A civil court said the relationship violated his marital rights and ordered them to pay him money.

But his wife said the secret recording invaded her privacy.

A criminal court agreed and sent the husband to prison, even though the recording had helped his civil case.
