ITC Shares Rise 4% as Q1 Profit Falls 15.6%
ITC is a big Indian company that sells cigarettes and food.
In the first quarter of its 2026‑27 year, it made less money than before because cigarette sales fell and its farm business did poorly.
But it still sold more overall, especially in other food items.
Even though the profit went down, the company’s shares went up about 4% on the stock market.
People are buying the shares because the company still grows in some areas, even though it faced higher taxes and costs.
ITC shares jumped up to 3.81% on NSE despite weaker Q1 FY26‑27 results.
Consolidated revenue rose 27.6% YoY to ₹29,523.30 crore, driven by a 12% increase in FMCG‑Others.
Net profit fell 15.6% YoY to ₹4,508.79 crore, largely due to a 25% drop in cigarette sales and 16.55% decline in agri revenue.
After removing exceptional items, net profit after tax fell 23.2% YoY to ₹4,103 crore; EBITDA fell 24%.
The stock opened at ₹284.45, up from ₹281 the previous close.
