Jaipur Demolition Drive Targets Encroachments Amid Traders’ Protest

Jaipur officials began removing buildings and other structures they said had encroached on New Sanganer Road.

The work started on October 5.

It covers a stretch from Gurjar Ki Thadi to Sodala.

More than 250 homes and shops could be affected.

Officials said the road is meant to be 100 feet wide but is narrower in some places.

The Jaipur Development Authority said the Rajasthan High Court had directed it to take action.

The authority must report back to the court by October 6.

Some residents and traders protested because they feared the work could hurt their businesses and livelihoods before the festive season.

Police were present, and traffic was diverted.
