Mali, Burkina Faso impose US travel ban
Mali and Burkina Faso have decided to ban US citizens from traveling to their countries.
This is because the US government, led by President Donald Trump, recently added these two countries, along with 37 others, to a list of countries whose citizens cannot travel to the US.
The US said this was because these countries have problems with checking and sharing information about their citizens.
Mali and Burkina Faso said the US decision was made without talking to them first and that it wasn't fair.
Other countries like Niger and Chad have also taken similar steps in the past when the US put them on the travel ban list.
The US has promised to let in athletes from these countries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but has not made any promises for fans.
Mali and Burkina Faso impose travel ban on US citizens in response to US travel restrictions.
US ban effective January 1, citing security concerns and deficiencies in screening and information-sharing.
Mali states US decision was made without prior consultation and unjustified by current developments.
Niger stops issuing visas to US citizens on December 25, following US travel ban announcement.
Chad previously suspended visa issuance to US citizens in June after being included in an earlier travel ban list.
