Trump Offers Aid as Nepal Flood Death Toll Nears 400

Powerful flash floods struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district and nearby parts of China’s Tibet on Wednesday.

The floods carried water, mud, rocks, ice and other debris through valleys and hillsides.

Nearly 400 people were reported dead, although different reports gave slightly different totals.

More than 1,400 people were still unaccounted for across Nepal and Tibet.

Some of the missing were tourists, trekkers and Hindu pilgrims traveling toward Mount Kailash.

The United States said 90 Americans were unaccounted for and three had been rescued.

President Donald Trump said Nepal could ask for any help it needed.

The United States also announced $500,000 for shelter, relief supplies, and water and sanitation assistance.

Rescue teams continued searching while authorities checked and updated the figures.
