Turkey Denies Military Presence at Syrian Air Base Strike

Israel attacked an old Syrian air base near Aleppo earlier this week.

Israel said Turkish military officials had recently visited the base.

Turkey denied that any Turkish military delegation was there when the attack happened.

A Syrian war monitor said the visit may have been connected to plans to reopen the base.

Israel’s prime minister said Israel would not accept a Turkish military position moving closer to Israel.

Turkey called the attack a violation of Syria’s sovereignty.

Turkish officials said they would keep helping Syria become stable and secure.

They also said Turkey would not retaliate because they did not want to worsen regional tensions.
